My business idea

While reading the newspaper today evening I had this strange brainwave of a business idea. Its more of consultancy and Audit type the pure business. By pure business I mean putting up manufacturing plant. The idea is related to real estate,the most upcoming market in India.

Everybody dreams of owning a house or flat. I have seen my colleagues who invest lot of time on real estate websites searching for a 'good' deal. They visit lots of agents and brokers suggested by family and friends. The actual deal takes place after much research and recommendations. But there is no way one can make sure he has got the house which is worth the money he spend on it. For a person like me who knows very little about construction and the quality of material used in making buildings strong and durable (for one lifetime) , it is very hard to decide.

It is here my business model fits in. You will find brokers and agents who will take you to site locations and can help you find your dream house but there are no agencies (as far as I know) to rate the buildings. I mean the cost of the real estate depends upon the location,its proximity to city, the security,lawn and garden etc. but you will never know what kind of material was used for building. How sustainable is your building? What is the green quotient of the building? Does it makes use of solar panels to light up the common area of the building?

So the idea is to setup an agency of expert people who can rate the building being built or already build. This will help the prospective buyers in their decision. The buyers can hire such agencies to evaluate the buildings on certain specified criteria which they are planning to purchase. They can then put forward these reports to their builder and ask for improvement in the quality of structure being built. This will also put a check on builders and will be forced to follow certain guidelines to keep the customers coming. Also the builders can hire these professionals to rate their buildings to attract customers. The more unbiased the agency is,the more customers it will attract. It is on the lines of private audit firms which evaluate the performances of major MNC's.
