The Festive season!!!

The Festive season in India never ends. Every day is special and some days are extra special. We the Indians have assimilated all culture so well that it looks though as it was our own. We celebrate a new year day on atleast 3 days of the year: 1st Jan, 1st day of Hindu calendar and Diwali as well. This is not all. We too have regional new year celebrations on different days of different months.

Only 15 days back we were celebrating New year according to English calendar, yesterday it was Lohri and today it is Makara Sankranti. Pongal which is the biggest festival of Tamil Nadu coincides with Sankranti. Both mark the beginning of Sun's journey northwards as the days get longer and also to rejoice the harvest season.

Sankranti, is the only Hindu festival which has assigned date and falls on 14th Jan every year. It is celebrated in the northern India by flying kites. It marks the biginning of Spring season and the departure of cold and foggy winter. The gardens will be colorful once again and will have beautiful flowers  blooming and  blossoming.

Best wishes for Lohri and Sankranti!!!
